This story makes me angry at both this pitiful man and the producers of American Idol. We saw Matthew Farmer's audition. We bought into his story of how he battled back from a brain injury sustained in an IED attack in Iraq.
It's true that he did serve. What's not true is his story. I guess the guy didn't think that those who served with him would call him on this.
They did.
The truth is, Matthew Farmer had a substance abuse problem and that was the cause of his brain injury. He's since admitted as much.
So, for every man and women who's served this country and sustained traumatic or life ending injuries. There's...this guy. Who so pathetically needed his shot at fame, that he was willing to lie his way to it.
This, in my opinion, illustrates how little the producers of Idol care about researching the stories they sell to us.
